Large shrub ca. 4 m; in fruit. Note (Jan. 2003) re. Schmid 1997-12, 1997-13, 1997-14: For a distance of ca. 0.3 km from the King Ct. entrance, along the ridge upslope of the main fire road (and above the quarry on Schmidt Lane), there are many plants of Acacia dealbata (silver wattle; acacia; Schmid 1997-12), A. verticillata (acacia, prickly Moses; Schmid 1997-13), and Pinus halepensis (aleppo pine; Schmid 1997-14). These alien species form extensive arbors over the maze of trails of trails and old roads. Dates of introduction are unknown, but the taxa, especially the pine, have naturalized. Plants of all age classes can be seen, e.g. on 24 Jan 2003: many saplings of P. halepensis, some as short as 15 cm tall (especially along the old road above the main fire road); also saplings of A. verticillata, some as low as 10x30 cm (HxW); least abundantly, saplings of A. dealbata, some as low as ca. 0.5 m. Maximum sizes of mature plants: A. verticillata ca. 0.3 m, the other two taxa ca. 10 m. These taxa apparently do not occur outside this area further to the northwest. | Access Database Number (Deprecated): UCD104651
