United States, California, San Benito, San Benito County: About 2 mi east of San Juan Bautista, along Hwy 156.
The plant characteristics are intermediate between B. rapa and B. napus. Flower measurements are those of B. rapa. Fruits small for cultivated canola (B. napus); average for B. rapa, and they look a lot like specimens of B. rapa. Seed size too small for B. napus (acc. To online species description) but just right for B. rapa. Fruit, seed, and flower measurements agree with B. rapa, but the character of the flowers not overtopping the buds agrees with B. napus.
Plant resistant to Roundup. Submitted for identification by R. Smith, farm advisor, Monterey County. He is concerned that this plant is Round up - resistant canola. Possibly this is a B. rapa plant with influence (hybrid?) of B. napus which includes Roundup resistance. | Access Database Number (Deprecated): UCD103668
