Steep rocky volcanic hills surrounded by relatively low gradient alluvial bajadas, including extensive areas of desert pavement, with scattered exposures of whitish, reddish, or greenish tuff-like deposits. Vegetation an open scrub of Larrea tridentata, Ambrosia dumosa, Hymenoclea salsola, Encelia farinosa, and abundant development of annuals. Prostrate annual, flowers reddish purple.
