The creek bed is about 12 meters wide at the site of the releve and has abundant Stachys and other herbs. Although the creek is intermittent, the riparian vegetation seems to indicate the water table is very near the surface. The property was grazed by cattle until about 5 years ago. The plot is located in a seasonal creek surrounded by open grassland. There are serpentine outcrops within 100 meters on both sides of the creek.
The stand is dominated by Quercus wislizeni and red willow with young Juglans in the understory along with abundant fig.
