The plot is ca. 50 m directly south of a very large blue oak at the top of a hill (ca. 1/8 from N corner and 100 m from the road). The vegetation type represented by the stand repeats throughout the grassland. The stand contains thin soil, some exposed bedrock, and loose quartz. It is dominated by Plagiobothrys, Bromus hordeaceus, Lotus, and Gilia.
