Along roadside. In full sun on dry, loose soil of a southwest-facing slope next to pastures, overlooking bay. A coastal prairie community dominated by Anagallis, Plantago, Raphanus, Sidalcea, and Rubus. A common erect annual grass 22 cm tall with fibrous roots, flowers in drooping panicles of spikelets--tan, with purple edges--resembling a rattlesnake's tail. | Access Database Number (Deprecated): UCD57132
