Along Knoxville-Berryessa Rd, ca. 1.4 road miles south of intersection with dirt road leading to old town of Knoxville, SW side of road, along drainage leading into Knoxville Creek; there is an old homestead uphill from collection site.

Along drainage with running water, near serpentine grassland. Area burned in the fall of 1999.
Grows with Fritillaria pluriflora, uphill there is oak-pine woodland with Pinus sabiniana, Quercus douglasii, and Q. lobata. Near stream are Quercus durata, Trichostema laxa, and Aquilegia exigua.
Herb with musky odor, to 2.5 feet tall, spreading and creeping, abundant in stream.
