In foothill woodlands section at foot of hill below old garden office, bottom of canyon. Densely planted area with many trees.
Tree with straight erect trunk, cultivated in UCR Bot Gdn. Acc. # 67-513, grown from seeds coll. by R. C. Dixon in N Calif. in either Lake or San Joaquin Co. Vouchers from original colls. in UCR Herbarium, but data in bot. garden became confused. Bark dark and scaly. Only one tree like this.
