Broad alluvial valley with braided sandy washes and areas of relatively barren dark cobbly desert pavement. Open scrub of Larrea tridentata, Ambrosia dumosa, Encelia frutescens, Acacia greggii, Yucca schidigera, Cylindropuntia ramosissima, Cylindropuntia acanthicarpa, and Krameria. Many summer annuals present, incl. Pectis papposa, Amaranthus fimbriatus, Bouteloua aristidoides, Aristida adsencionis, and Boerhavia, also abundant seedlings of winter annuals, including Platago erecta, Erodium texanum, Chorizanthe rigida, Chaenactis spp., Cryptantha spp, Camissonia spp.
Prostrate, stems and leaves reddish, hairy. Common.
