Heavily grazed meadow on fine silty pumice soil. Wet areas fed by perennial springs, drier margins intergrading into Pinus contorta forest and Artemisia tridenta scrub upland. Abundant head-cutting by cattle, inside and outside of fenced exclosure. With Iris missouriensis, Stellaria longipes, Dodecatheon, Taraxicum, Achillea, Juncus, Carex, Ribes spp.
Common around drier meadow edges and under lodgepoles.
