Fenced shady spring with muddy hoof-marked margins, on fine pumice soil. Dense Pinus contorta forest with Populus tremuloides, Veronica americana, Achillea millefolium, Mimulus primuloides, M. guttatus, Geum macrophyllum, Trifolium longipes, Taraxacum, Carex.
Common on silty spring margins.
