on open, grassy, N-facing slope
Some plants few- or several-stemmed. Spikelets pale greenish, the glumes and lemmas straw-colored toward margins. Glumes dark flat above, shiny beneath, with purple spots owing, apparently, to a pathogen. Hgts. to ca, 2 ft.; Locally abundant and gregarious. Neighbors included Bromus mollis, B. diandrus, Avena barbata, Achillea borealis, and Ranunculus californicus.
