Locality: United States, California, San Diego, Cuyamaca Mountains, east of Cuyamaca Reservoir along Sunrise Highway (S-1), 0.5 miles southeast of junction with Hwy 79. About 50 feet north of the road near the Pedro Fages Trail marker.

Habitat: Vernally moist ‘’pebble plains’’ of gabbro and quartz cobbles with Eriogonum wrightii var. membranaceum, Viola douglasii, Navarretia tagetina, and Minuartia pusilla.
Description: Perennial herb, petals dark reddish-purple, fruit ascending.
