United States, California, San Bernardino, New York Mountains, Eastern Mojave Desert, Caruthers Canyon. Alongside old dirt road up canyon to mine.

Habitat:
Growing in shade of Pinus monophylla and Quercus, at base of northwest-facing slope, in gravelly soil at base of boulders.
Associated Taxa:
Arabis, Ericameria cf. laricifolia, Garrya flavescens, Gutierrezia, Penstemon eatonii, Pinus monophylla, Poa secunda, Quercus, Silene verecunda, Yucca baccata
Description:
Also observed a plant in wash above. Rare perennial, woody at base, hispid throughout. Corolla rotate. Only ca. 5 females observed.
